15A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 2

Three people without busy schedules, but still that want to eat healthy good tasting food: Casey, 22 year old, Kali, 27 year old, and Alexis 20 year old.

Alternative Evaluation: After having in depth interviews with my 3 interviewees on the food truck, I figured out how these types of customers do their picking. Casey and Kali said that the price did not matter to them at all and that they were willing to pay for healthy good tasting food. Alexis said that the price mattered to her and that she would rather eat at home if it were too much money eating out. All 3 of my interviewees agreed that the quality and style of the food was of great importance to getting more customers and keeping them as customers. Another factor is how close it is to these people’s homes because they all wanted the Food Truck to be convenient.

How/where do they buy? My food truck would only be offered in person and would not be sold online, but the customers have the option to pre-order what they want online so that the process of getting their food is very fast. The option to use cash or credit cards is there in case people only have cash or only have a credit card with them. My customers all said they would not want an online option because they would want their food fast and would not want it shipped to them.

Post-Purchase Evaluation: Since my purchase for my customers is immediate satisfaction, they will continue to come back. My customers will know if they made the right choice because of how the food will settle in their stomach. My customers will think the purchase was a good idea if they feel satisfied, clean, and full, which I hope that all customers do. The customers could think their purchase is a bad idea simply if they do not feel good after or the food does not taste good to them.

Summary/Conclusion: I believe in terms of alternative evaluation that my food truck needs to be priced a little bit over moderate because it seems that when people are searching for healthy food, they know they will have to pay only a little bit more for it and they are willing to do so. I believe there needs to be consistent quality and style because making it trendy will encourage more people to come.  People will decide to purchase from my food truck as long as they are looking for healthy food and want something quick. They will continue to purchase if the quality is good. My customers want to feel clean, full, and satisfied, which they will after eating my healthy food truck.

  1. Hey Amanda!

I keep up with you opportunity because it is something I am highly interested in. I’m right on board with what your interviewees about quality over price. I never bother to even look at prices when I’m at a restaurant or at a grocery store. I am not a cash holder so I actually like the idea of pre-ordering my food online. I prefer to pick up the food than have it delivered. I’m a fanatic of healthy food even though I work at a very unhealthy restaurant. You mention the food truck offering food at later times, does this mean till 3 a.m? After clubs and bars close? I typically get home from work at around midnight so having a healthy option of meals is quite limited around that time. I enjoy to see you creating a company that’ll benefit the health of people. Not many companies nowadays are concerned about that in my opinion.

If you ever need to interview someone about this, I’m totally in!

    Great job with your interviews!

  2. Hi Amanda,
Your interviews gave more helpful insight! I think this is a great idea to continue. Lately, my schedule has been getting extremely busy, so I have been having to eat at odd times. I never carry a lot of cash on me, so having both options of cash and credit card would be helpful. To comment on your delivery, I don't know how a food truck could deliver food. However, you could cater as well. Just another idea!

  3. Hi Amanda! I really liked your second buyer behavior analysis. I was surprised that your interviewees weren’t particularly concerned with price. Although, I know I myself am willing to pay more for healthier food too. I really like the idea that you offer order-ahead services because that is an added convenience for your customers to be able to order ahead and simply pick it up. So many people use mobile apps these days to order food so that is a great feature for your business to utilize.
