Bugs
1) When I am on a run listening to music on sound cloud and a
commercial plays.
Why this bug exists? The app sound cloud does this so listeners will be annoyed and eventually pay for commercials to be removed.
2) When my best friend says she will pick me up for a scheduled dinner, but is late.
Why this bug exists? My best friend is late for almost everything and takes her sweet time getting ready for scheduled events, which in return makes me late.
3) When people clip their nails on the floor.
Why this bug exists? People are too lazy to walk to a trashcan. I end up stepping on peoples cut nails and having to clean the floor.
4) When people hand wash dishes and put them back in the cabinet wet.
Why this bug exists? Possibly, people do not want to waste paper towels to dry them. I go to grab the dishes and have to dry them before placing dry food in them.
5) When the drier in my apartment only dries clothing until damp rather than "dry."
Why this bug exists? The apartment complex must have purchased inexpensive driers.
6) When my shower drain is so slow that my shower slightly fills up with water.
Why this bug exists? The drain in the shower could be clogged with hair.
7) When the light bulb in my room is out and I have no light.
Why this bug exists? The light bulb must be old and I have not changed it in quite some time.
8) When I call to make a dermatology appointment at UF and the next available is February.
Why this bug exists? UF dermatology is so backed up and possibly understaffed.
9) When my cousin says she is going out at night with me and then never answers my text.
Why this bug exists? My cousin must have other plans and forgot to tell me so.
10) When a car is driving under 70 mph in the left lane on the highway.
Why this bug exists? A person could potentially be texting and driving, not realizing their speed.
11) When my dresser drawer does not shut perfectly and has to be shaken to shut.
Why this bug exists? The dresser was poorly made from China and in return was sold cheaply.
12) When I am cooking on the stove and olive oil splashes up on my arm and burns me.
Why this bug exists? The heat of the stove is too hot and causes the olive oil to splash up.
13) When I am flipping through a textbook and get a paper cut.
Why this bug exists? Skimming through pages fast causes the paper to slice my finger fast.
14) When people look at their phones while I am speaking to them.
Why this bug exists? People are addicted to social media and cannot be without it for a second.
15) When my Wi-Fi does not work and does not allow me to read my online textbooks
Why this bug exists? There are many people using the same Wi-Fi network causing the Wi-Fi to crash.
16) When my car charger is broken and I have to drive 3 hours with 5% on my phone.
Why this bug exists? The fuse for my car charger has busted and does not allow me to charge anything.
17) When lines are really long at midtown in Gainesville.
Why this bug exists? People tend to go out the same nights. On the weekends when no classes are necessary, more people go out.
18) When I pack multiple necklaces to go on a vacation and they get tangled.
Why this bug exists? Necklaces are placed in a single bag and the chains are shaken around while traveling.
19) When I have to squeeze into my car because the car next to me parked too close.
Why this bug exists? The parking spots might be small in order to fit more cars in the parking lot.
20) When I go to sleep at night and hear little noises in my ceiling and peoples voices outside.
Why this bug exists? The walls must be thin and the road is slightly busy at night.
Reflection
This blog post was surprisingly difficult to create. It was difficult to realize all the little things that bug me and to understand why the bug exists. Although people have unmet needs everyday, it is hard to pinpoint and notice them. It is natural to get annoyed with little things in life, so people do not feel the need to identify them. The 20 problems or "bugs" I listed above do not impact people's life largely. The reason that this exercise was slightly challenging is due to the fact that I try to focus on the big picture in life and stay positive throughout my day. I do not point out all the negative things going on in my life because I know they are not of importance in that very moment. When looking back on all the little things that bother me, it surprises me how little they are on a big picture. Lastly, finding out why this bug exists rather than why it bothers me. I had to think deeper and think about how the bug came about in the first place. I wanted to relate the bug to myself rather than identify why the bug existed. Overall, this assignment was more surprising and challenging than I expected.

Hi Amanda,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your Bug List! Many of the “bugs” on your list were things that also bothered me. In addition to your list being relatable to my own life, I especially liked how diverse the list was. The bugs you had about people rudely using technology were especially understandable because that also “bugs” me. I also found the assignment a challenge but surprisingly it led me to realize insights into my own feelings and life.
