I found 5 people who should have the unmet need I
identified, but, for whatever reason, do not. Based on these 5 people, I drew
conclusions on who, what, and why these people do not want to take advantage of
my opportunity.
Who: It seems as
if there are certain people that share a lot in common with the healthy eaters
of society that are busy, yet they do not seem interested in a food truck.
There are people that want to cook at home for themselves rather than going out
in eating. There are people that cannot afford to eat out at all and simply
don’t have the money to do so. Although it will be as cheap as it can be some
people cannot afford it still because it is healthy food and a profit does need
to be made.
What: Is eating
healthy the same thing as looking good? Not exactly, because it eating healthy
is not going to automatically transform the way you look. Other factors play a
role, like working out. With the correct food going into your body and the
right amount of exercise, I believe people will look good and feel healthy. Is
eating healthy fast food the same thing as feeling good? There are a lot of
other factors that play a role in feeling good and eating healthy is not the
only one. Eating good food typically puts me and many other people in good
moods, so there is a correlation, but the factors do not match up perfectly.
Why: I believe
the outsiders need is different than people inside the boundary because other
factors play a role. There are healthy people who simply like to eat at home
for healthy food and when they go out, they treat themselves. There are people
that live in areas where a food truck would not make sense to them. I believe
there is an underlying cause of the amount of income a person makes, where
people live, and people do not want to change their daily eating routines
|
Inside the boundary
|
Outside the
boundary
|
|
Who is in:
Healthy eaters on a busy schedule in a populated area
|
Who is not:
People who do not want to spend money eating out and
people who prefer cooking.
|
|
What the need is:
To fit in a healthy diet while working long hours
|
What the need is not:
The need does not mean someone will look and feel good
always.
|
|
Why the need exists:
They want to eat healthy, but simply do not have time for
it.
|
Alternative explanations:
Location, one’s daily routines, and income all play an
important role in why they do not want the healthy food truck in their lives.

Hey Amanda,
ReplyDeleteThe concerns you addressed make sense to me, even though I vouched for how an authentic food truck can attract a large market. The combination is a strange one, fast and healthy, but it's one that a certain kind of person can get behind one hundred percent. That person would likely be a single parent who is continually on the move, or a college student who is trying to make moves towards health consciencousness. Making food from home is the more practical option, but if we all went for the more practical option, a juggernaut like McDonald's wouldn't exist in the first place. I'm glad that those who were dissenters didn't have any crippling opinions, only the ones you could expect from untested food service waters. Cheers, and I hope to see this opprotunity grow!
Hi Amanda! I think the interviews you did provide some relevant information to you about your customer market. As you found, some people will not be interested in eating healthily. Also some people may like the convenience of your food truck however they will not be primary customers because they do not want to spend money eating out. Despite the people who fall outside of the boundaries of your ideal market, I think you have a strong concept that has potential for great success due to the increasing popularity of convenient, fast and fresh healthy eating.
ReplyDeleteHey Amanda,
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great opportunity solver considering I have this unmet need. I work late hours and not much is ever open except for McDonalds and Wendy's. I am a huge fan of food trucks so I'd given into this without a doubt. Your "what" was an awesome outlook on how these needs are different. I do believe those who do not meet this need may think about and may fall into this need because if the food is cheap, and it meets their healthy standards, why not give it a go? Miami, FL would be a great spot to have this food truck. Food trucks in Miami are quite competitive and are on the map for foodies.
Hi Amanda,
ReplyDeleteI think this is such a great opportunity you have. You did identify those who fit the need, yet don't. I am one of those people sometimes. I prefer to cook myself, but sometimes I just want something fast. Another issue is allergies. I am allergic to citrus, and usually most "healthy food" does have some form of it like lemon or orange. That's why I prefer to cook my own food. I never thought about that or the location of food trucks. I think all of the information you gathered from this would be very helpful in the future.
Hi, Amanda,
ReplyDeleteI read your assignment. You found out that there are several types of people about the healthy food truck. For instance, certain people that share a lot in common with the healthy eaters of society that are busy, but they are not interested in a food truck; other group of people want to cook at home; also, there are people who cannot afford to eat out at all. The people’s opinions are true.
Hi Amanda,
ReplyDeleteThe concept is bizarre- a fast yet healthy food option- but I believe this would solve the issue of people not being able to get health food since they are always on the go. Even though money is something to be considered, it is always nice to know that there is a healthy option available if an emergency comes up and you're out of the house without anything to eat. Great job identifying the different facets of this opportunity! Thanks!
