6A- Identifying Opportunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends

Opportunity #1 (Economic): The Economy Is in the Expansion Phase of the Business Cycle

Why is this an opportunity: The fact that the economy is staying in the expansion phase for so long means that it will hit a peak soon and begin falling. This happens all the time like the season of the year and there is nothing we can do to stop it, except plan for it. To help plan for this, we have jobs like financial planners and advisors that attempt to save you from any economic crisis.
Prototypical Customer: A person worried about their financial future
Easy/difficult opportunity:  This opportunity is possible because there will be a lack of financial planners when people start worrying about their economic problems.
Why did you see the opportunity? I saw this opportunity because I saw it happen in the past when the economy took a downfall. I saw people not knowing what to do and how to deal with the prices of things rising fast. With an increase in financial advisors, people can use them more and not have to have the economic worry.

Opportunity #2 (Economic): Baby Boomers Aren't Retiring

Why is this an opportunity: The fact that baby boomers aren’t retiring means that people entering the job market are going to have less options when it comes to jobs. Older generations are working longer to keep a high income and low cost, but because of this, they are taking up the new generations jobs.  The best way to make money is “to try to make money from a hobby” as “the balance” says.
Prototypical Customer: Anybody entering the work force
Easy/difficult opportunity: This opportunity is slightly difficult because as a baby boomer, I have to come up with new ideas to work. I do think it is important to pursue a hobby though and I think it could benefit people to do so.
Why did you see the opportunity? I saw this opportunity because I have noticed that people care about working longer and not retiring early. I believe that work is becoming more stressed and people are doing more of it.

Opportunity #3 (Regulatory): In the fitness world, I believe an opportunity of a cell phone app exists. An app similar to Instagram, but strictly for workout videos.
Found: This source of information came from my realization of how many of my friends save Instagram workout videos and then go back scrolling through tons to look at while planning a work out.
Why is this an opportunity: This is an opportunity because of the generation we are in now. This generation cares about health and fitness greatly and there is no phone application that allows people to save workout videos and be social.
Prototypical Customer: Anyone that enjoys working out and being part of a workout world.
Easy/difficult opportunity: This opportunity is rather difficult to exploit due to the fact that in order for the app to be a success, many people would have to be using it. The app would get more social, interactive, and popular by more people using it. The app would begin with correct marketing.
Why did you see the opportunity? I noticed this opportunity because I have a passion for working out. I have workouts that I like to do everyday, but I commonly go on my saved Instagram videos scrolling up in down looking for a certain new workout to try. I noticed that all my friends that workout do this as well.


Opportunity #4 (Regulatory): The consciousness of what you are eating has increased. More people care about what they eat and how the food got to the table.
Found: Day to day life allowed me to notice this, as well as, my brother’s recent research in his business school.
Why is this an opportunity: This is an opportunity because eating healthy makes people feel better and is being noticed more in today’s society.
Prototypical Customer: The prototypical customer would be a millennial because they are in with the newest trends and are very food conscious. Millennial’s and anyone else that cares about what they eat/where it came from.
Easy/difficult opportunity: This opportunity is somewhat easy to exploit with the correct background knowledge. One could open a healthy food truck because millennial’s want food fast and healthy.

Why did you see the opportunity? I saw this opportunity because of today’s changing society. People want food fast, but they also want it to be good for the body. For example, fresh kitchen, grill fresh, vale, etc. are all restaurants fast and healthy geared at a certain generation.
